Gautami Singhania bags win in Mugello
Gautam Hari Singhania clinched the top spot in the first race of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship 2015 in Mugello, Italy, on Saturday.
He thus became the first Indian to finish first in the Coppa Shell category after qualifying in pole position.
Singhania is placed second overall in the championship as of today and is nine points ahead of Eric Prinoth.
The season started in Monza (Italy), where Singhania secured a double podium finish followed by another podium finish at Budapest (Hungary), Le Castellet (France), Imola (Italy) and Valencia (Spain) in June, July, September and October respectively.
Commenting on the win, Singhania said: “I am thrilled to secure pole position for the first time during this season. I am proud to secure my tenth podium finish this year, as this is a remarkable achievement for anybody in their first season. I am really looking forward for the race 2 of the Ferrari European Challenge Series tomorrow.”
Singhania is racing with Swiss team Kessel Racing.
The next race takes place on Saturday.
